Ok. So August was the month we started working on our game. I sat down with Oli (my dev-partner) and we began to lay out our ideas on the whiteboard. The goal was to make a 5-day Game Jam and then have a working first prototype. Haha.
By lunch the second day we threw the Game Jam Plan overboard and just started to work without any clear finish date. We never made a commercial game before, so there will probably be a steep learning curve.
I watched a ton of devlogs and talks from gamedevs I admire and did walk away with quite a lot of useful information. On the other hand it is easy to get lost in the see of well-meaning-gamedev-advice. So our main strategy will be to enjoy the progress and make a game that we are going to be proud off.
We do have a small budget, which gives us a certain amount of financial freedom and in that sense we are very lucky. We also – at the moment – do not need to compromise regarding our vision for the game. It can be as edgy as we want. And we want it super edgy.
So stay tuned for the next monthly update.
